Today the big kona winds and swell arrived as forecasted. So first stop Lanes to watch the pros strut their stuff. Lanes was solid 4.7 windy and mast to mast+half in the sets. Bonkers.

Suitably inspired I returned to Kanaha. The swell there was nothing like that at Lanes but still bigger than yesterday - boom to half mast. And much windier. 4.5 was too much and the waveriding was often a struggle as a result. I did score plenty of decent waves but a far greater amount of time was spent swimming. :(

I haven't travelled all this way to sail bloody port tack. Tomorrow the konas continue and possibly even stronger so I might wimp out. Trades are forecasted to return on Saturday or Sunday - can't wait.
